As the world's largest ground beef producer, Cargill Beef is taking leadership by responding to consumer inquiries and transparency concerns at the retail level with multiple initiatives aimed at increasing transparency in its communications, packaging and use of Finely Textured Beef. These consumer-facing initiatives are designed to not only enhance consumer confidence in Cargill's U.S.-made, fresh ground beef products, but also to enhance consumer brand awareness, recognition and loyalty for both retailers and Cargill.
Currently effective updates include our consumer website, CargillGroundBeef.com, and the beginnings of Cargill's Our Certified is® ground beef brand refresh that includes new packaging with updated design elements, a "gluten-free" mention, and a QR (quick response) code to access CargillGroundBeef.com. Additionally, Our Certified branded ground beef that contains Finely Textured Beef will include the declaration "Contains Finely Textured Beef" directly on the package. The first packaging format under the Our Certified brand to receive this refresh was the U.S. Case Ready Chub effective January 20, 2014.
We plan to continue providing consumer transparency with additional updates being made to the Our Certified brand and other Cargill Beef branded products and packaging formats in the U.S. and Canada prior to the grilling season 2014.
